Our Team

Michele E. Spekhardt, D.M.D.

Dr. Michele Spekhardt has been providing exceptional dental care for 35+ years!  Dr. Spekhardt earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maine in 1984 and her dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1990. After graduating from dental school, she started practicing in Brooks, Maine in at the Jewell Dental Clinic, and in 1994 she purchased this practice from a retiring Bangor dentist.

Dr. Spekhardt feels it is important to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry and has a strong belief in lifetime learning, resulting in her routinely completing over 50 hours of continuing education per year. She is on the faculty at UMA Bangor, teaching in the Expanded Functional Dental Auxiliary Program and has dental students rotate through the office for their externships.

Dr. Spekhardt maintains membership in many prestigious professional organizations to keep up to date on the latest techniques and technology, including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Maine Dental Association, and the Penobscot Valley Dental Society. 

In her spare time, Dr. Spekhardt attends continuing education programs, visits her children, reads, and hangs out with her malti-poo, Millie, and cheers on the Bruins and Patriots.

Jenna Fongemie, D.M.D.

Dr. Jenna Fongemi is a native of Augusta, ME, and graduated cum laude from Stonehill College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  While attending Stonehill, she participated in three mission trips and spent a semester studying abroad in Galway, Ireland.

Dr. Fongemie obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, with the hope of returning home to Maine upon completion.  During dental school, she had the opportunity to help other students as a Teacher’s Assistant in both her clinical Group Practice and in the Dental Anatomy Course. She is a current member of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Fongemie practices patient-centered dentistry, focusing on patients as a whole and listening to patient concerns, even beyond their oral health.  She believes in comprehensive and conservative dental treatment, while motivating patients in the prevention of dental disease.

In her free time, Dr. Fongemie enjoys remaining active, seeking new challenges, and spending time with her Golden Retriever, Phoebe.  She is a 200-hour certified Yoga Teacher and ran the 2022 Boston Marathon.  Dr. Fongemie is an avid traveler and reader and loves hearing her patients’ book and travel recommendations.

Whitney Jones, D.M.D.

Dr. Whitney Jones first had the thought of becoming a dentist in the 6th grade when completing an essay assignment on what she wanted to be when she grew up. As time progressed, she developed a love for science and patient-centered comprehensive healthcare. She grew up in Skowhegan, which drove her desire to improve access to dental care for Maine communities. She graduated with a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Seton Hall University in 2015. She studied dental medicine at the University of New England in Portland, ME and received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2019. Dr. Jones enjoys all the innovative practices of dentistry and getting to know each patient as well as their particular dental needs. 

When not working at the office, Dr. Jones may be working with veterans at the VA or at Husson University coaching softball. She enjoys anything sports or outdoor related including hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with family, friends, and her Great Danes, Rory and Rangely. Dr. Jones looks forward to getting to know you and helping with your dental healthcare needs.
